Meet Angie, Scheduling Manager at the Carling Adrenal Center!
Check out the Q&A below to learn a bit more about Angie.
1) Tell us about your background and how you ended up working in healthcare.
When I was five years old, I was in the hospital for over six months with a very serious illness. And I had such wonderful memories of that time in my life. My mother said from that day forward, I wanted to become a nurse. As I got older, I become very interested in nutrition and how that impacted your day health and wellness. I currently am a Registered Nutritionist.
2) What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love interacting with my patients and hearing about their experiences. All of our patients have such different diseases and challenges in their lives, it feels good to finally help them get healthy.
3) When did you start working with the practices? What makes the practices and the Hospital for Endocrine Surgery special/unique?
I have been working with this company for the last six years and absolutely love every part of my job. I still am able to work in the health care field, but in a very different capacity.
Our practice is so different than any other practice I have seen. We are world renowned and have the world's best surgeons in the Endocrine field. The majority of our patients are diagnosed over the phone with labs, scan and biopsies. However, we do see patients in in our office as well.
4) What is your favorite part of the patient process?
My favorite part of the process is scheduling them for surgery, knowing at the end they will feel great. I still keep in touch with many of my patients throughout my years here!
5) Can you tell me about a particularly rewarding patient experience you remember?
I had a patient who came all the way from Alaska that I had scheduled for a fusion scan. During this fusion scan, we found out the she had breast cancer. Without her having this scan, she would have never found out that she had cancer. I still keep in touch with her to see how she is doing. This was another wonderful experience, and why I love my job!
